Emirates Internet Secondary Email Service

For Dedicated Access or ISDN LAN Connect CUSTOMERS

Emirates Internet Service provides seven days a week, 24 hours a day support
on E-Mail facility to all Internet users.

For large organizations having ISDN LAN Connect or Dedicated Access to Internet,
a secondary E-mail service is available to ensure that no e-mails will be missed should
their link to Emirates Internet service be interrupted or the customer’s E-mail server is
technically not operational.

The diagram below briefly describes the function of the Secondary E-mail service provided to an Internet ISDN LAN connect customer (also applicable to Dedicated Access customers).

Server “A” - Primary E-mail (customer) server for ISDN LAN connect or Dedicated Access.  Server “B” – Emirates Internet Secondary E-mail server

As shown in the above diagram, the following events take place when:

Company ABC is connected to the Emirates Internet All messages addressed to Company ABC are delivered directly to Server “A”.

Company ABC is not connected to Emirates Internet All messages addressed to Company ABC will be diverted and delivered to Server “B”.   These messages which are temporarily queued at Server “B” can only be retrieved upon connection of Server “A” to Emirates Internet service. This can be programmed from Server “A” to automatically retrieve the messages upon connected.

Important Notes :

  1. ISDN LAN Connect or Dedicated Access customers to Emirates Internet have to configure their SMTP gateways and DNS set up to “mail2.emirates.net.ae” as a Secondary Mail Exchange.
  2. ISDN LAN Connect or Dedicated customers should never use the IP address of the Server (mail2) as it changes from time to time without notice.
